Fall in Yosemite is breathtakingly colorful. But, Yosemite is fabulous in black and white any time of year. I spent this weekend with my friend, and brilliant landscape photographer Michael Frye. We photographed fabulous color, and when the weather changed, dreamy black and whites.
First, the color. While the Valley isn't at peak color yet, the maples have turned as well as some of the dogwoods. Fall's colors reflected in the Merced river are nothing short of amazing.
And now for some black and white. The fog set in and created ideal conditions to make subtle black and whites.
And finally, for something totally different. "Lodgepole Pine" trees often have spectacular systems of intertwining branches. This one is one of the coolest I've seen so far.
