Elephant seals have a good life. During California's winter they congregate at Ano Nuevo beach. While they are here, most of there time is spent just "hanging out". As you sit and watch, it they seem to chat, scratch, play, and generally goof around. Then - when all the activity becomes too much, they collapse and take long naps. Nice life if you can get it!
On a more serious note, the Pacific Coast is amazing for it's natural diversity and we should all enjoy and protect. We are lucky to have organizations like the San Mateo Coast Natural History Association who advocate for these areas - especially when short sighted politicians are lobbying to close state parks.
