As a photographer, I've always wanted to get published in a major news paper or magazine. Earlier this year, I had a photograph published in the online edition of the Daily Telegraph - which I took as quite an achievement. Last week, however, I got the surprise of my life when this image was published on the New York Times Blog. Then it ran in Saturday's print copy of the International Herald Tribune and on Monday it was in the printed edition of the New York Times. Add to this an earlier run of the image on CNN and this becomes my first truly global photograph.
The photograph is of a 4th grader in rural Kenya studying on a Kindle at a Kilgoris Project school. As proud as I am of the photographic achievement, I'm even more excited about the visibility it creates for the organization.
