In May last year I spent a couple of days following a cheetah cub and her mother in the northern Maasai Mara. This year I was able to follow those two cheetah’s again (the cub is grown up and separated from mom) as well as another family of three. For me the highlight was absolutely watching an adolescent cheetah hunt a gazelle. While the hunt was unsuccessful (about 50% are) the cheetah’s speed was simply breathtaking.
