Ancient, mystical, exotic! Kathmandu is all of these things. It was also a great place for my friend Matt and I to go play for the weekend. We spent a lot of time photographing Buddhist temples – especially the magical Boudhanath Stupa at the heart of the old Tibetan district. We couldn’t help the feeling of being watched - all of the temples contained a central “stupa” adorned with the uniquely Nepali “Buddha Eyes”.
Wherever I travel, the local religious customs fascinate me. While Nepal is a Hindu Kingdom, it feels like Hinduism and Buddhism blend seamlessly. So much so that Nepalis believe that Buddha is actually the 9th re-incarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu. It was easy to mix up whether we were at a Buddhist or Hindu temple!
