March To Read

This March, The Kilgoris Project and some generous partners are raising $10,000 (just $56 per student) to give the kids at Oltikampu Primary School Kindle e-readers. Screen Shot 2014-02-27 at 11.59.48 AM

Through this campaign, the 177 students (ages 6-10) at Oltikampu Primary School will have daily access to 100 books in both Swahili and English via their Kindles. We are able to supply the Kindles at a discounted rate to our friends in Kilgoris thanks to our partnership with Worldreader, a respected international non-profit focused on eradicating illiteracy.

The students at Intimigom Primary School (a sister school, also funded by TKP) have been using Kindles for the past three years as a primary reading tool and we are proud to share that students continue to be engaged and excited about reading since the inception of the Kindle program. Let’s bring that same elation to Oltikampu!

Your donation of $120 allows us to purchase one Kindle, fully loaded with 100 books in both Swahili and English.

Our students love to learn and we love bringing them tools that allow them to succeed in the classroom. Primary school education is the gateway for our students to go on to attend secondary school and university. It is our hope that many will continue on to successful careers that can lift their families out of poverty. Visit us at kilgoris.org/donate to support March to Read.
